After successfully collaborating with our publisher Korion Interactive on the release of our game Critical Zone, we had the opportunity to work together again — this time we worked as external developers on the iconic Moorhuhn IP more precisely Moorhuhn Kart 4. Our role in this project was the environment design of the racetracks. Out of the 12 tracks featured in the game, we designed the environment of 8 of them. Another role was to animate and design the item effects in the game and to take care of the lighting of the race tracks.

One of the key challenges we tackled was creating believable environments using a minimal number of assets. It was not only important for the racetracks to work well when driving forward, but also to ensure that the world felt believable if players drove in the wrong direction. An important factor for efficiency was to pre-build small arrangements of matching assets that could be placed multiple times throughout the level with slight adjustments and variations. Throughout the process, we maintained close communication with the artists to provide input and ideas for both landmarks and practical assets or adjustments.

The world’s craziest chicken is heading back to the racetrack! Wacky characters, cool tracks and karts, and zany items await in a worldwide online battle for first place!
